What have I got?

Post by GARYTWIGG »

I bought a moke on ebay 6 years ago which was originally supplied by Minisport in Padiham. It came in kit form and I suspect that it was a Chinese import it came with no wheels/subframes or drive train and the nudge bars roof frame and cover were in separate boxes.

It is now just about complete and I just need to get some rubber wheel extensions and decent sized tyres on it to finish it. Does anyone know what I have? And whether the wheel arch extensions sold by the club will fit?

I had a Californian many years ago that was in my parents garage for many years before they decided to give it away!!

Here are a couple of pictures

The Chinese Mokes (Chokes) like yours were based on Australian body measurements so I would think the rubber flares sold by the club should fit. Aussie Mokes with the rear kick out run 13” wheels with fairly high profile tyres BUT they do this by having a unique, longer radius arms. If, as I suspect, you are using standard mini rear radius arms then you’ll be limited to 12”rims and tyres or, if using 13” rims, low profile tyres so they’ll end up looking just as lost in the wheel arches as 12” ones. The saving grace is that the rubber flares, if fitted, should fill the gap somewhat.
