Horns

Post by Nigel K »

I have a L horn and trying to find a matching H horn. However, try as a I might with the old Google I can't find one which matches in style. The ones I can find are similar in size and shape, so round with a horn except the rectangular horn section I have 3 sides are straight and one is rounded, and its no conch shape in term of how the opening joins the main body.

If there a general sort of manufacturer of austin/morris horns that I could try a search on instead or some online catalogue. Knowing what Mokes are like with generic parts could it be that the horn I have isn't a "mini" horn but something like from a Land Rover?

Have you got a picture of your existing horn that you could post on here?

Yes its like this. All the ones I can find the spade connectors are not next to each other that close and the line/crease along the top are at an angle. Next question if I get one how do I mount them together? is there a "twin" bracket? (if that is the correct bracket its on at the moment)

Looks like I've found one which is similar-ish so having not to worry too much so ordered one to see how it goes. Still need to figure out how to mount two of them however

Mount the other one on the other side of the engine bay….oh, and a long piece of wire.

Seriously though. I presume the second horn will come with a mounting piece like the existing one, simply bolt that on facing the opposite way to the existing one then you’ll have the two horns side by side.

Yes I was thinking that. Guess it will fit without hitting the bulkhead. I dont know how horns are normally mounted in the engine bay. I'll sort it. Need to fix the button press bit anyway. I'm missing that nylon riser thing and the little copper dish

If it an early type one then search eBay for “Mk1 mini horn push”. But make sure to sit down before looking at the price.
