English filler cap lock

Is there easy fix/swap out to add a lock to the filler for an English Moke?

I don't have any photos, but I've had Mokes with two different variants. One had a gate hasp riveted to the cap and bent to fit over a staple riveted to the body. The other had the hasp riveted to the body with the staple brazed onto the cap. Both were effective, both looked rubbish.

Like he said. You might be tempted by the locking LandRover type but I’m not sure they’re compatible with moke filler necks and you’d still need to fasten a hasp arrangement onto the bodywork which would entail removing the tank, self tappers aren’t going to be man enough are they?

Well I'm trying to avoid the a) looking rubbish b) an annoying rattle. I have found one place (am I allowed to mention company names?) which does list lockable ones but for "Mini Moke (1964 to 1989)" which seems unlikely to me as arent they different sizes? When did the filler cap move to the side rather than on top?

If a locking Land Rover one does fit - why would I still need a hasp?

The Land Rover setup looks a lot better than the ones mine had.

I'm pretty sure that all UK and Australian Mokes (except export models) up until around the middle of 1979 had the same large diameter cap, with 4 mounting 'prongs' on the underside. All of the locking Land Rover ones, of that style, that I can see on ebay seem to have three prongs, which wouldn't be compatible. If you wanted to use that style you could modify the existing cap by welding that rib/wing bit to it.

The change in cap size happened during 1979. At first they used a Mini filler cap in the original location on top (but still with the big hole in the top of the pannier for the large sized cap) then in late 1979 for the 'facelift', they moved it to the side.
