Aus/Portg wheel arches
The later (e.g. Australian) mokes have sticky out wheel arches which look like they are just bolted on? Do they just bolt on and if so where can I source them? Or is it a case of finding someone who can fabricate them and stick them on? This is for adding to an English Moke...

By wheel arches do you mean the kick outs in the rear panel or the side extensions ?

Not sure.
So... if I fix discs rather than drums on an English I'm assuming the wheels stick out too far and unless there's something else you can do (is there a wheel fix you can do with spacers?), or theres no need to worry I'm under the impression that you need to extend the arches out to cover the wheels or does the age trump that?
Im guessing this is a common change?

The easiest way if you’re fitting disc brakes is to buy a set of reverse rims, as fitted to mini coopers, these will keep the tyres inside the bodywork without you having to resort to to metal cutting required when fitting Aussie type extensions.
Reverse rims in 3.5” and 4.4” versions are available from MiniSpares in Padiham.

Thanks I'll have a look. I have white spoke Wellers at the moment and hoping I can find something similar but need to look out for this ET of 35+ I think?

By my, very quick and rough, calculations a set of wheel arch extensions would cost you around £160ish which is cheaper than a set of rims but then there’s the welding on of them, plus paint and prep. On the plus side for the rims, at least they look more like the standard rims than Wellers.

Thanks for that. I'm not bothered about the welding and respray as the drivers side panel is going to be replaced (and maybe passenger side) and she needs a full respray anyway. So if I do anything I want to do it now rather than later.... have I mentioned those wind deflectors? Need to decide if I want them again or not. I have them at the moment, except one is cracked and just wondering if to get new or just not bother. All these decisions before paint starts flowing...

Then I’d recommend a visiting the MokePanels website, and don’t forget to check out their advert in Moking before you order.

Re: Aus/Portg wheel arches
If you want to fit the arch extemaion panels you can eithr buy them or have them fabricated, they are easy to make nothing but simple folds.
These can then be prepared and painted and simply bolted onto the vehicle, no damage other than the fixings.
Regarding the wind deflectors, I would retain them, there were none on my Moke and I found my knees got cold when on a longish run so I made and fitted a pair, now it's much " cosier"............... relatively speaking.

Or you could fit a garage door bottom seal from Screwfix for £20 for both sides! Just drill and rivet on.

Re: Aus/Portg wheel arches
There's heaps of that rubber wheel arch flare stuff available in Australia, for all the four-wheel-drivers that want to make their monster trucks look even wider. I guess they are compensating for their inadequacies.
