Were does my Moke come from ?

Freewheeling banter.....anything goes as long as it's clean and nothing to do with Mokes.

Were does my Moke come from ?

Post by Timini »

Hi all,

Last year i bought a second Moke (Australian) that was driving around in Belgium for 10 years. It has an English Reg. nr (1968) that says 850cc but it's a 1000cc :?: , this reg can't be the original one. With the car also came Italian-papers of previous owners, ... and also this form :

Is there anyone who can tell me more about this cars origine or Reg-number or how it got into Italie ?

Many thanks, Tim

Is there nobody in the club who can tell me were to 'ever' find some info ?

I tought there were people who know all about Mokes regs (as i read in the cronicles)
But still no ....

I'am really appending on MMC-info, and every day i'am waiting, keeps me further from driving.

I can't see how the English reg mark is related as the VIN is of a late Australian Moke (1979?).

I drove it from Belgium to Run-a-moke, and Ron says it must be a UK reg from another car (a Morris).
Probably because the prev. Belgian owner wanted to make it an Oldtimer, because of the low tax and insurrance costs in Belgium.

But i am looking what the orig. number was and must be.

Many thanks for the tips
Hope i get to know more about the car.

So, you need to know what vehicle the UK reg number came off? Is that correct?
Dean.

Where does it come from

Tim, the Italian papers indicate it is 1979, 1000cc model.

The registration was Roma V66876. The owner was Fincenzo Augusto Fiduccia, born 13/7/1939 in Rome and lived at 3 Via de Capo, Le Case, Rome.

Owners of Italian cars get fined if they do not return the registration plates when the car leaves the country. The UK identification is certainly from another Moke and probably given to this car to avoid paying to import it.

Hope this helps.
After 28 years, not Mokeless any more!
