Cool, I hadn't actually thought of Moking to Portmeirion!

Its probably not the best place to admit this but I have this little fantasy of liberating one of the UK's remaining Mini estates (an early Austin Countryman, complete with wood). They never made it to our colony and are the only Mini variant that I've never seen here. The idea would be to tour around in it for a couple of weeks then stick it in a box to ship home.

Yes, I have a thing for Minis of all persuasions. One of my plans was for a pilgrimage to Gaydon to visit the first Mini, the Twini Moke and the Ant, but their website says they're closed until late May, which is a bit late.

Still, now that Ford owns Gaydon perhaps a transit would be more appropriate...

My Moke mag has arrived.
Having decided to take the scenic route.
It came via St. Vincent & the Grenadines (stamped as arriving there on the 29 Dec 2006).

In regard to the register review, where do I find the "Commissioning Number" ?

Tim, while I was over there I didn't see any vans (not including Clubbi vans) are there any of those ?
Also while you are filling your (lottery win) container what other varients would you add ? I reckon you could fit 4 Minis in a standard container comfortably.

Doug, The commisioning number is the VIN number, it's usually on an aluminium plate in the engine bay and stamped on various bits of the body (well it is on mine)

Can you give me some examples of where I should look to find these numbers?

My ali plate is behind the air filter, on the bulkhead. There is a (chassis/ VIN ) number stamped on the bukhead too - in the top corner at the drivers side . This number is also stamped on the radiator shroud top. BUT - even I didn't see them until I was stripping the paint off for respraying so they may take some finding

The Commision number is NOT the VIN number.
It was only used on English Mokes and was normally found on the inner wing near the clutch housing.
