Camshaft Upgrade

Post by Dean »

Has anyone here had any experience with upgrading their camshaft?
I am about to rebuild the bottom end on my Moke and while the engine is out of the car I was wondering if it was worth changing anything else at the same time.

In a general sense, yes I've upgraded the cam in a few engines and always found it worthwhile. Typically a replacement cam isn't all that expensive, although you should fit new or reco'd cam followers at the same time. Unfortunately I don't have enough experience to be able to recommend a particular cam, thats where you really need an expert.

People on the Ausmini forum rave about the RE13 cam (and indeed everything else) that Graham Russell produces. I've heard that some of the big UK cam grinders have ripped him off, so he must be OK.
