Rear Brake Pipes

Post by Doug G »

My Mini Moke (Circa 1973) has had the metal brake pipe that goes from the rear left brake cylinder to the flexible hose section, break at the point of entry into the brake cylinder.

Query is what do I need to buy :

eg

http://www.minisport.com/mini-spare-par ... _Sets.html

This one ? Kind of expensive to have to buy the whole set for one bit, but think it might be a good idea to replace all.

Brake pipe set - Mini Single line - 1969 on, dry
Part No: GB4992 ??

Suggestions/advice?

Bad news Doug, you have the longer radius arms so standard Mini pipes are too short. You need to get one made up using the old one as a pattern unless you can find someone who sell the longer ones (maybe an Oz Moke dealer?).

As you are rather remote from suppliers over there, why not invest in your own flaring tool?
There are heaps of the cheapo types on eBay but I have found these a bit hit and miss with the results.
I invested in one of these a couple of years ago.

They are a slightly cheaper version of the Sykes Pickvent version here.

They are costly but I have never regretted buying it.
You don't want to have to park up your Moke for several weeks (or months) for the want of a bit of metal tube that can be be made in under 5 minutes.

Hmm, having bought new brake cylinders for the rear wheels, (I now have three cylinders in reserve) , the front left one has decided to leak.

Now to by a set for each of the front wheels and some wheel nuts.
