Hi Wesley. I have used both, my only observation is that the plastic breaks a lot easier, but the metal made more noise. I would probably go metal, a bit of extra noise in Moke is not a major problem.

Every time I've noticed it mentioned in an engine tuning article they seem to go for the 4 blade version... I don't know why. Personally I stick with the plastic ones ( but only because I've got lots of them kicking around)

My Mini Moke, when I purchased it, had a 16 bladed metal fan,

The blades were rather rough cut but it did seem to had a manufactured supporting backing.

IE not cut out od a flattened 40 gallon drum like some sections of the body panels were.

The original plastic fans when new were more flexible than the new ones we get now and even then the originals would get hard (and brittle). I've seen them break every other day, in fact on our last trip away, only one of us had (had!) a plastic fan fitted, that lasted 2 days, a replacement was fitted and that didn't even last the day!! Yes, the radiator was secure and no un-due movement found, that was the first thing we looked at when the first one went.

I've been running the metal fans now for about 30 years, usually the 6 blade (export) ones, I've yet to break one of these or have one cause other damage. They are noisier than the plastic ones, but really, not that much more.
Old Mokers never die, they just smell that way.

I've had two plastic fans fly apart when I've been working on the engine. Its very exciting. The sort of exciting that I could do without.
