Fitting new Mk 2 steering rack to 1964 Moke

Post by DavidW »

Hi, I tried buying a reconditioned Mk 1 rack for my '64 Moke but was advised to fit a new Mk 2 rack. Do I need to make any modifications or is it a straight replacement? Many thanks, David

The steering arms were different on Mk1's so you need to swap these for Mk2 arms to match the rack.

Dean is correct in what he's suggested.

If you have some trouble finding an undamaged pair of MKII Steering Arms, you can fit longer Track Rod Ends.

There's a bit more info on this topic here :)

including how to pick the MKI from the MKII Arms.
Old Mokers never die, they just smell that way.
