5mm spacers would be the closest, being 1/4" = 6.35mm

I'll go with that.

I'll just quietly point out that the info on the Somerfords site is not correct re: the spacer being 1/4" .
Old Mokers never die, they just smell that way.

Because you're running wider tires, the drums with spacers makes sence, however, if you had the steelies with the regular tires, you would be ok without the spacers.

So, 1/4" is what I need.

As many said before, 12A1457 is not longer available, so a direct replacement is not an option. You will face the same issue when your drums need replacement.

So options are going with Drums with 3/4" spacers built in, which will push outwards the tires, or buy the regular brake drums and use wheel spacers.

Now, problem is, I can't seem to find a 1/4" spacer.

Hi Miguel,
Yes you are right, with the wider wheels/tyres I still need the drums with spacers, oddly enough I thought the number in my drum i.e.21A 1457 was miss stamped and should have been 12A 1457 but I see that M Parts sell drums numbered 21A 1457! So I should be ok for some direct replacements.

Don't forget that if you do put standard drums on with a spacer you may need longer wheel studs.

Hi Miguel,
Forgot to mention, if you think identifying/getting hold of the correct drums is difficult, wait until you try it with the brake wheel cylinders!!! Sizes are a nightmare.

Wally, do you remember which one is the right size?

Checking again, I think I may have ordered the wrong parts.

No one bothers with spacers as small as 1/4". I needed some for the front of mine so that the wheels would clear the calipers, I had to get them made from steel plate.

Hi Miguel,
All I can say is that my Moke has 21A 1457's and they look the same as those at M Parts but if yours has non spacered drums and you have clearance between the tyre and trailing arm, then they should be ok.

So, final answer on the spacers issue:

The spacers needed to use the regular Mini drums on the rear of the Moke are the 3/8". The studs do not need to be replaced as the rear studs are long enough to accommodate them.

Miguel
