Hi guys,
I need to know how tight the castellated nut should be that holds the drive flange for the rubber drive joints into the diff.
Any ideas?.
Also, while I am at it, do all the early gear boxes have an oil strainer fitted?

Re: diff. output drive flange,
Hi Mick,
According to the manual :-
Nut, driving flange to differential (tighten to specified figure and align to next split pin hole).
70 lbs/ft (9.6kg/m).
Not sure about the strainer, the parts manual shows it but it is not called up on the list for engines 8AC-U-101 to 136.
In the manual it mentions removing the strainer on stripping the gearbox down.
Cheers

Re: diff. output drive flange,
Thanks for the info, Chris, I removed the engine from the box, so as to reshell and re ring, I cleaned out the gearbox with solvent, there was quite a lot of debris i the bottom, but after reassembly , I found the rocker cover had quite a lot of rust in it and I reaslised that the debris I found in the gearbox may have blocked the pick up, hence lack of oil in the top end of the engine ? Not sure, so I will remove the box from the engine and check, which is what I should have done in the first place, more haste .less speed!!
