How do you correct that 'suspension sag'Tim wrote: ↑Thu Sep 30, 2021 23:19 Australian racks were locally made. I understand that they were essentially a shortened Morris 1100 rack and as such are more robust than the UK ones. The Mini and the Moke used the same rack, so it didn't have additional stops. The wheels only rub when the suspension sags, they are OK with new rubber cones.
We don't replace them with inferior UK racks. The Australian racks are rebuildable, so we have them reconditioned and they are good to go again.

The bit after the words you highlighted in red tell you how to do it. You can buy and fit new rubber donuts and/or fit a set of HiLo’s. Either way you’ll need a suspension cone compressing tool.

Re: Tire replacement.
Of course you’ll need one of these to be able to fit them……

Are you're that you are not in 'sales' ?
You do appear to have a penchant for being able to 'upsell' and increase my purchase list.

Re: Tire replacement.
Doug, I thought you'd like to know I had four new tyres fitted on Saturday.
Nothing special, Nankang SW7 175/70R13, the main criterion being that they look nice and knobbly.
Its been so wet and miserable since, that I haven't had a chance to test them.

Re: Tire replacement.
Here you go, there was a short sunny period today so I took it for a test drive at lunch time.
In the carefully composed picture below, you can see our new icebreaker "RSV Nuyina", just above the wing mirror. Here's a closer look at the tyres. These have a snow tread and include sockets for screwing in studs - something I'll never use.
What was very interesting is how much lighter the steering is. My Moke has suffered from extremely heavy steering for years. In fact my mechanic recenlty suggested I desperately needed a steering rack rebuild. On the test drive it was so much better! It must have been the old tyres. They were very knobbly and had quite square shoulders on the tread. The new ones have much more rounded corners and the steering turns about 50% more easily, its remarkable. I need to try it on some twists now.
