Wheel for '68 Mk2 Moke
I'm currently going through a restoration of my Mk2 Morris Mini Moke and wondered if someone could help me identify what sort of steering wheel I should find?
The current steering wheel is so obviously not original and since we've discovered that the three layers of paint had more structural integrity than the bodywork we've had to replace the whole body. As such it makes sense for me to present her as original as possible.
Thank you,
Dominic

If it a Mark 2 then it would be the large skinny rim one with a non horn push centre, with an Austin logo

The s the sort of wheel. As I say you just need the centre cap.......in fact, just like the one I chucked in the skip last November

Re: Wheel for '68 Mk2 Moke
I've gone for a totally new body. The old one had rust welded onto rust welded on to rust so the time value of prepping the rust that was left was not much less than just buying a whole new body.
Shame about the centre cap in your skip! What badge do I need for a Morris? The plain "M" or the crest?
Is the shop bought Snowberry White accurate? It looked a little yellow but that was painted on a bright white can.

The crest is for Austin, you want the red M.
I went the new shell route a couple of years ago for my 66. It seems costly up front but in the long run it saves time and money.

I thought, seemingly mistakenly, that yours is an Austin. I thought I’d seen a picture of the engine with the Austin badge on the rocker cover

Not mine, Nigel.
The V5C and VIN both confirm Morris. There isn't a rocker cover on my engine. Might look out for one.
Many thanks,
Dominic

Very wise decision to go for a new body. I wish I had gone that way.

Turns out my supposed 858cc engine is actually a 1l Gold Seal one. No idea when that got put in as I don't have a complete history. Must have been a long time ago though.
I presume I need to tell my insurer?
